Spring and Summer are in the height of dolphin season. Dolphin (sometimes
known as Dorado or Mahi-mahi ) come to us in abundant numbers and
often travel in large schools. Seeing the large heads of a male
dolphin, called a "Slammer," streaking across the wake
to strike a bait will certainly get your blood pumping. The "Schoolie"
dolphin are no slouches either on spinning rods in a feeding frenzy
with sometimes six or eight fish hooked up at once, in seemingly
endless supply. Throw in a few Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna, Amberjack,
or an occasional Blue Marlin and you have the essence of our summertime
offshore fishing.
